C JEAN | The Beauty of Imperfection: A Contemporary Craft Translation in Fashion

4/3-4/25 11:30-18:30 CLOSED Every SUN. & MON.

IP Gallery

Centered on the theme The Beauty of Imperfection, this exhibition is curated by designer Chun-Yuan Jean (C JEAN) and presents a cross-cultural creative dialogue with SHOBIEN, a Kyoto-based wax-resist dye workshop with over six decades of craftsmanship.

The exhibition explores how traditional crackle techniques and ink-like aesthetics are translated into the language of contemporary haute fashion. Using the gallery space as its primary medium, the exhibition presents a museum-oriented display through dress forms, static presentations of artisanal textiles, and multimedia documentation. These elements together reveal the complete creative trajectory—from the origins of craftsmanship to the formation of finished garments—while extending the visual impact of the Taipei Fashion Week Opening Show into a more contemplative and readable exhibition experience.

In addition to the general exhibition route, scheduled guided tours and professional dialogues will be arranged to facilitate exchanges between creative concepts, craft knowledge, and industry practice. Opportunities for professional consultations and made-to-order discussions will also be provided during the exhibition period. Through a focused and refined curatorial approach, the exhibition aims to deepen C JEAN’s creative positioning within the fields of contemporary craft and high-end fashion, while expanding international cultural exchange and professional networks.
